Mainstreaming EITI in Provincial Mining Regulatory Boards Project

Mainstreaming EITI in PMRBs Project aims to bring together stakeholders engaged in the small-scale mining sector to come up with ways on how to integrate transparency mechanisms into ongoing reforms in the sector. The two-day event brought together participants from national and regional offices of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) and members of various provincial mining regulatory boards (PMRBs) from five regions with existing minahang bayan. The PMRB is composed of the regional director of the MGB as chair, the governor or city mayor as representative of the local government unit (LGU), two representatives from industry coming from the large-scale and small-scale mining sector, and one representative from an accredited environmental NGO.
The two-day event covered topics on the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) and also existing initiatives in the sector. An open forum lead by government representatives was part of the program to gather inputs and questions from the different sectors present.

As the project coordinator, I worked with the PH-EITI team to design the flow of the program and the appropriate activities for the outputs envisioned. I worked with our outreach manager in the scoping of participants to be invited. I helped in the coordination of logistical matters of the event. I also delivered some sessions myself and facilitated the open forum and transition of sessions.
